Jenny has broad experience in all aspects of management, sales, customer service and events after owning and managing her own business for 10 years, to then taking on sales and customer service roles. While excelling in these roles, Jenny completed a Diploma in Event Management and has successfully run numerous events both on behalf of The Compassionate Friends Victoria and the car club she is a member of.
Jenny was the Events and Services Coordinator at TCFV for six years and is now warmly managing The Compassionate Friend’s drop-in centre and a team of over 160 volunteers across Victoria.
Outside of work, Jenny completed the Lifeline accredited group leader training, has been facilitating the Rowville support group since 2009 and graciously devotes the small amount of spare time she has to The Compassionate Friends Victoria when needed.
Jenny LOVES retro cars, caravans and all things 60’s. Jenny is married with three children, Benjamin, Danielle (deceased, age 16) and Anthony and is the proud grandmother of Isabelle and Audrey.
Karen has a Bachelor of Communications, specialising in public relations and events. After 10 years managing large scale campaigns such as the Australian Open, the Ovarian Cancer Silver Ribbon Appeal and the AFL Premiership Season, Karen branched out on her own to focus on community education events.
In addition to this, Karen has volunteered with The Compassionate Friends Victoria since 2003, completed the Lifeline accredited support group leader training, facilitating the Canterbury evening support group since 2010 and was on the Board for two and a half years.
After two years successfully working with a range of organisations, Karen joins the Leadership team to add her wealth of experience to The Compassionate Friends Victoria.
Karen is known as the social butterfly and loves to share a hug with everyone who walks in the door. Karen lost her daughter Brianna to illness (age 3) and is the proud mother of her son, Riley.
Andrew commenced as volunteer co-ordinator (support groups) in January 2010. In 2006, Andrew earned a doctorate in sociology with an extensive study of sibling grief and social isolation. He has subsequently published articles in Youth Studies Australia, Critical Public Health and Grief Matters, and has worked as a research fellow on health promotion projects for Deakin University and VicHealth.
His co-ordination role with TCFV includes running support group training and managing additional programs such as retreat accommodation, research, online chat forums and outreach services. In a voluntary capacity, he is also co-facilitator of the bereaved siblings support group and editor of the bi-monthly magazine, Brothers & Sisters. For a complete change of pace, in his spare time Andrew waxes lyrical about films and film-making.
Andrew lost his brother Jeremy (aged 26).
Margherita has a Business Degree in Marketing. Her career to date covers both the non for profit and corporate sectors, with extensive experience in sales management, grants writing, fundraising, resource development, service development and evaluation, systems improvement as well as project and operational management. Her passion is in the non for profit sectors helping smaller charities and less well known causes increase their profile and access to funding. Margherita recently joined TCF Victoria in a development role, looking to explore opportunities to enhance financial sustainability. In her spare time, Margherita enjoys travelling and ballroom dancing.
Paul has extensive experience in the not for profit sector, having provided bookkeeping duties at The Banksia Foundation, PANDA and at The Compassionate Friends Victoria since 2000 as well as managing his own business.
Paul manages TCFV’s finances, administration, troubleshoots IT issues and moonlights as the official photographer at The Compassionate Friends events.
Paul is a bereaved sibling and proud father of three children. He is well recognised in the office for his cheerful whistle and frequent outbursts of song.
John brings to TCFV broad senior management experience from both the corporate and not for profit sectors. John’s career has focussed on HR management, organisation development and project management.
John has been instrumental in the design of organisational structures; the integration of people, processes and technology as well as managing several innovative technology based projects. He has also chaired the Board of a not for profit organisation and provided both strategic and operational advice to several other charities.
John is married with three children and is a long-suffering Saints supporter.
